Deals for Walgreens, CVS and Jewel for the week of 3-28/4-3

Hey all,
How is your Monday going?  Mine is fine, except I have a splitting headache from the sun and looking at this computer too long but before I leave for the night I wanted to post some deals for you to check out this week at Meijer, CVS, Walgreens and Target. I know there are some I'm going after....

CVS Deals

Jewel Deals
Chef's Requested Bacon-Wrapped Beef Filets are on sale for $7.99, B1G1F. There are two 5oz. steaks in each pack.
Note that the printable coupons available for this deal are limit one per household. But, there are a few to choose from:
$1 off Chef's Requested twin-pack bacon wrapped filetshttp://partners.couponnetwork.com/i/13039/8874/520
$3 off Chef's Requested twin-pack bacon wrapped filets
$1.50 off any 2 Chef's Requested productshttp://partners.couponnetwork.com/i/13039/8871/520

Use the $3 printable on your first pack (priced at $7.99)
Use the $1 printable on your second pack (priced at $0 with store's B1G1F sale)
Use the Buy 3, Get 1 Free coupon on your third pack (priced at $7.99, but coupon will take entire price off)
The 4th package of steak has no coupon, but is also free with the store's B1G1F sale.

With this scenario, you'll pay $3.99 for 8 steaks - that's about .50 per filet!

Every time this deal comes around, people either love or hate these steaks. We love. :) You really do have to make sure you don't overcook them, but we have yet to have a bad one.I sautee them in a pan with a little garlic olive oil and they come out juicy and tender. (And yes, while these steaks are over our usual per-pound meat "benchmark" price, this is a very good price for a "nice" dinner at home. :)

Hartz Crunch N' Clean dog treats! They're on clearance at numerous Jewel locations for $1.99 a box. There's a $1.50 coupon in the 3/6 SS that will net you .49 dog treats! There are also a bunch of $1 coupons in past issues of All You magazine: February 2011, October 2010, August 2010, and May 2010! All of these will net you more treats at .99 a box. (And, if you don't mind opening your boxes, we've found that many of our boxes have had additional $1 coupons inside!)

Time to stock up on dog treats! Look for boxes with a free chew toy inside too!

Another dog treat deal? (Woof!) Pedigree Good Bites dog treats are on sale for $2.99. Use the $2 coupon from the new 3/27 RP and pay .99!

Laundry detergent deal! Xtra Laundry Detergent (75oz., 48 load) is on sale for $1.99. Use the .50 coupon from 3/6 SS and pay $1.49 - that's .03 per load!

We've had a lot of pasta sauce deals lately, but just in case you missed them (or need more!) ... Prego pasta sauce (23-24oz.) is on sale for $1.50 a jar. Buy 3 and use the $1-off-3 coupon from 1/2 SS2 (expires 3/31!) You'll pay $3.50 for 3 jars, or about $1.17 a jar.

Jewel is running a "Spend $20, get $5" Catalina deal on selected Johnson & Johnson products. I'm not seeing anything super-crazy here unless you're a multiple-insert person. If you are, you could possibly do an all-Stayfree deal in this way:

Buy 11 packages of Stayfree pads ($21.89)

Use as many of these coupons as you have:

- Buy 1 Stayfree, Get 1 Free - 1/9 SS2 (expires 3/31!)
- $1 off - 3/27 RP
- $2 off 2 - printable

With 5 B1G1F coupons (taking $9.95 off) and 6 $1 coupons (or $2-off-2 coupons that take a dollar discount off each package,) you'll pay $5.94 and get $5 back! That's 11 packages of Stayfree for .94! About .09 per package!

There is a national Catalina deal running on McCormick herbs, spices, extracts, food coloring, black pepper, garlic and onion. Buy two and get a $1.50 Catalina; buy 3 or more and get a $2.50 Catalina (through 4/10.)

There is a $1 coupon in the 3/13. Prices vary, but I spotted some McCormick around the $1.99 price point at Jewel. If you have 3 coupons, buy three, pay $2.97 and get $2.50 back. .97 for 3 is about .32 each!

NOTE that NOT ALL McCormick items are included. Many readers have reported issues with some products not working, namely the carded recipe spices and the grill packets. Stick to the red-lid jars.

Fruity and Cocoa Pebbles Treats bars! (They're like Rice Krispie Treats, but of course made with Cocoa Krispies or Fruity Pebbles.) The treats are on sale for $1.79 a box. Use the $1 coupon from 3/13 SS and pay .79! If you like these, inside the cover of the box (at least for the Fruity, anyway) we found another .55 coupon.

The Pebbles bars are also part of the "Buy 10 or 15, get Labels for Education" if you're going for that deal.

Here's a deal on Kellogg's Cereals. They are on sale for $2.99 a box (not the best price, especially since they were $2.50 last week!) However, if you buy 3, you'll get a Catalina for a free gallon of milk on your next shopping trip, so that sweetens the deal somewhat.

Included cereals are:
Apple Jacks
Cocoa Krispies
Corn Flakes
Froot Loops
Frosted Flakes
Honey Smacks
Mini-Wheats
Raisin Bran
Rice Krispies

Pops
There are quite a few Kellogg's coupons out for the deal...
- $1 off Frosted Flakes low sugar (if included) - printable
- $1 off Mini-Wheats with fruit (if included) - printable
- $1 off 2 Kellogg's Corn Flakes - printable
- $1 off 2 Kellogg's All Bran, Crispix or Corn Flakes cereals - printable
- $1 off 2 Kellogg's cereals (ANY) - 3/6 RP
- $1 off 3 selected Kellogg's cereals - printable

Here's where the deal gets even more fun. Many readers are reporting finding "peelie" coupons on the cereal boxes for produce discounts -- $1.00 off fresh fruit when you buy 2 boxes, or 1 pound of bananas free for buying cereal. Others have reported seeing tearpads for $1.50 off fresh fruit when you buy 2 boxes. Any of these will make an already-good deal even better!

"Buy 10, Save $5" Instant-Savings Sale

Several things I have Learned Today....Please Read...

Hi all,
Hope all of you had a great Sunday!  Even though it is still chilly here in Northwestern Indiana the sun was shinny so we can't complain to much.
Hubby and I decided to go out today to our local Home and Garden Show to see super couponer Jill Catlado.  Since I am still learning this whole coupon game I thought I would be able to pick up a few tips.  I Did! I am going to share some of them with you here in a few short minutes but first I want to talk about why YOU should start couponing.
We already know that the economy is heading down the toilet and there is not alot we can do about it except be prepared.  As I was surfing Jills website I came across this article that you NEED to read and take serious.
The reason I started couponing was just to save a few bucks and to help stretch our paychecks a little further. When I watched Super Couponing in January, I'm looking at the people with their stockpiles and thinking to myself"these people are insane, I will never be like that!" Well, as I get more into the whole couponing thing, and see what I can get for free and I see that the prices are going up and up, I am beginning to rethink the whole stockpiling thing.  There are people that stockpile laundry soap, dish soap, toilet paper, diapers, anything like that that has no expiration date.  Then you can also stockpile cereal, because that last at least 11 months unopened, canned goods, just make sure when you buy new you put the new in the back and keep the older in the front.
It makes me very sad that the world has come to this, but it has and there is nothing we can do about it except to be prepared for when it happens.  Start couponing now, get things while they are still at decent prices, grab them on sale and use your coupons!  Stock up, there are creative ways to hide things in your house. Here are a few ideas............
-Put a table behind your couch with a shelf on the bottom of it..hide some things in there
-Ottomans- If you have an ottoman with a lid, put your smaller items in there
-Do you have a space in your basement you just don't know what to do with? Purchase a shelving unit from the hardware store and you can store laundry soap, toilet paper, canned goods, things like that.
-Extra laundry basket laying around with a lid? Store toilet paper, hand lotions, whatever you can in there.
Just use your imagination and I'm sure you can come up with some creative storage ideas. Anybody that has any creative ideas to "hide" our stockpiles, please feel free to post them in the comments section of this website.  Any and all comments are welcome.
Now, you maybe asking yourself "Won't I be considered a hoarder if I stockpile?"  The answer to that question is ABSOLUTELY NOT!  The difference between being a hoarder and a stockpiler,  a stockpiler uses there stock, a hoarder just keeps things for years and buys things they don't really need or will ever use. Stockpiling is helping the family, hoarding just hurts the family.  For example, your family goes through 2 boxes of Kelloggs Raisin Bran a week and your paying approximately $3.99 a box without it being on sale or without a coupon. In 1 month you are spending $31.92 just on cereal!!!! Ok, say you buy the off brand cereal at 1.99 a bag...your buying 2 bags a week for 4 weeks...you are still spending $15.92 a month on cereal...OK that's better but of course I have better for scenario for you....say Kelloggs Raisin Bran is on sale this week at Strack and VanTil for$ 2.99 and you have a coupon for$ 2.00 off a box.  You are only paying .99 a box. Say you stock up for a month, saying your going through 2 boxes a week, you are only spending $7.94 for a months worth of cereal!  Now you tell me, which of the 3 deals would you go with? I know what I would do!  Its just makes since that you would stock up on the groceries and toiletries you need while the prices are low.
Now...I'm going to share with you a couple of things I learned today in the coupon class.  Groceries sales go in cycles. When you find something that you use all the time at the rock bottom price it is best to get all you can while it is at that price because it will not be that low again until approximately 3 months later!!  Experts say that when your items go on sale, buy at least 3 months worth because it will not be that low again until another 3 months.  I have seen this myself in the 3 months I have been couponing. Everything that I bought in January is starting to go on sale again now.  A little trick is to keep track of the things you buy the most and track there prices for 3 months, then you will see how prices dive and skyrocket.  This will also help you to see if what your buying is really a good deal or not. Here is a great spreadsheet to use when beginning to coupon to help track your savings.(Hint: Don't erase what is in there, just type over the numbers with your own because for some reason it will not add up properly)
Another thing I learned and has nothing to do with food!  Its saving on toys and clothing!
Here is the schedule to shop for clothing:
Winter-March-May
Spring-June-Aug.
Summer- Sept.-November
Fall - Dec- Feb.
These are when all the clothes start going on clearance. If you wait 3-4 weeks in after the sales start, you will hit the 90% off clothing and get your best deals. Working at Penneys, I learned the longer you wait, the lower the prices, when I left Penneys, clothing was going for .90 and that was in February!
Another thing to look out for is for sales AFTER new movies come out. There will be clothes and toys geared toward the movies and the kids go nuts for these things. After the movie has came out is when the clothes and toys go on clearance!
After holidays....good time to shop as well, that's when holiday items go on sale. Sometimes things will be marked a holiday item and you can wear it year around or all season. An example Jill showed us was a skirt at Old Navy for a little girl. It was considered 4th of July skirt because it had fireworks on the buttons!  She got it on clearance for $1.00 after the 4th of July!  Old Navy is a great store to look for clearance items!
Toys go on clearance in January and Late July or early August so those are the best time to look for bargain toys for Christmas the next year.
I know I was pretty winded in this article but the time to start couponing is now and I hope that you get on the coupon train before its too late. If you have any questions or comments please send them to me and I will help get your answers and if your interested in starting to coupon let me know and I will be happy to help. Please check out these sites to help you to start, they will really help you!
Happy Couponing to All!

Do you think your getting a deal at the Dollar Store, think again!

Hey all,

Think your getting great deals shopping at the dollar store? Think again. On some items like party supplies and cards and holiday decorations, they are cheaper but not nessessarily on health and beauty, vitamins, cleaning items or food. Interesting huh? go here to check out the full article.
Hubby, DD, and I all went to Walmart the other night and was checking prices on some items, comparing them to CVS and Walgreens deals and guess who came out in front?  If you guessed Walgreens and CVS you are right!  Good for me cause I'm not a Walmart fan and since the closest one to me is about 30 minutes away, I'll just stick to my CVS and Wags!!! Gotta love it!

By the way did you get your coupon on facebook for Minute Maid OJ?  If not go there now and like them then all the way to the left you'll see MMOJO, click on that and you can print your coupon!  I got mine just in time, hubby came home sick and is desperate need for some MMOJ!!

Happy couponing!

Recycle bank

Check out this website to help you do your part in saving the environment....earn points and rewards.

Overwelmed about starting to coupon?

Hi readers,

I just recieved a comment from a reader stating she wants to learn to coupon but feels that it is to overwelming to start.  Well, let me give you a few hints to help you.
-Start slow
-Pick up a Sunday paper  and look through the coupons. Clip out only coupons you are interested in. Think about it, if you just use a few of the coupons in there you've paid for your paper.
-Watch the sales papers or check out your favorite stores online and look at there ads.
-See what those stores have that match your coupons and there you are. You have started saving money already.

The best advice is to start slow and you will see a savings fast. As time goes on and you see yourself saving more money then you will want to find more coupons and you'll be saving more and more.

Couponing is like a drug, once you start its hard to stop.(But its a good drug!) I've learned that I no longer want to pay full price for something. If I know I'm going shopping then I will look on a website to see if they offer a coupon. Take for example, I needed to pick up some things for a wedding cake I am making so I knew I'd be going to Michaels to get that stuff, I went to Micheals.com and found a coupon for 40% off 1 item. Every little bit helps.

I shop alot at Thrift stores for gently used clothes and home assesories and do alot of my shopping for things on Amazon.com as well. A great thrift store in Northwest Indiana is in Merrillvile called Unique. On Mondays and Thursday mornings they offer 50% off everything!

I also signed up with swagbucks and you earn points for surfing the web and those points you can redem for Amazon gift cards. Here is the link for that. http://www.swagbucks.com/refer/keysmom

Another place to find coupons is coupons.com , redplum.com these you can print out from your home computer.

A mistake that many couponers make is wanting to  use the coupon as soon as it comes out. They don't want to wait for the sales.  To maximize your savings, WAIT.  Many things will go on sale almost when the coupon is about to expire, so watch your ads.

For the readers that are close to Strack and Van Tils, I will be posting coupon matchups and that will help you get an idea of what you will be saving and spending on certain items.

I will alos be starting to post coupon matchups for CVS and Walgreens as well. So be on the look out for those comming very soon.

So to sum it all up, start slow, watch your ads and watch your paychecks stretch so far that BenFranklin will be yelling!. ;)

Good luck and happy couponing!
